Step 1: Installing the HP Smart app

  • Install the HP Smart app on your Windows or Mac computer if you haven’t installed it yet. After installing the app, launch it and sign in to your HP account or create the account. 
  • Ensure that your HP Officejet printer and the computer on which you’re using the HP Smart app are connected to the same network.

Step 2: Loading the original

  • Get the original that you want to scan.
  • Raise the scanner unit of your printer.
  • Load the original on the scanner unit of your printer.
  • Make sure that the original document is loaded with its print-side facing down.
  • Lower the scanner unit.

Step 3: Configuring the scan settings

  • Launch the HP Smart app on your computer.
  • Go to the Scan tab.
  • Click the Get Started button.
  • Choose the scan type.
  • Configure the scan settings, such as scan location, etc., as per your preferences.
  • Finally, click the Scan button.
  • Now, your HP Officejet printer will start to scan the document.

HP OFFICEJET 6950 SCAN TO EMAIL

Using the HP printer software, you can scan a photo or document and send it to email easily and quickly. At the same time, if you’re using the HP Smart app, make sure that your personal email account address is configured with the pre-installed Mail app on the computer.

  • Load the originals on your printer’s scanner glass or in the document feeder of your printer. 
  • Launch the HP printer software on your computer.
  • Go to the Print, Scan & Fax section.
  • Click the Scan button followed by Scan a Document or Photo.
  • Select the Email as JPEG or Email as PDF option under the Scan Shortcuts section.
  • Configure the scan settings as per your preferences and click Scan.

Using the HP Smart app

As said above, configure your account with the pre-installed Mail app if you haven’t configured it yet.

Configuring the account

  • Open the Mail app installed on your computer.
  • Click the Settings menu and select Manage accounts > Add Account or click Mail > Add Account.
  • Add your account by following the instructions displayed on the screen.

Scanning using the HP Smart app

  • On the HP Smart app’s main screen, click on the Scan tab.
  • Select the Camera, Import, or Scanner option.

HP OFFICEJET 6950 SCAN TO COMPUTER


Before you start the scan operation, ensure that your Windows or Mac computer (that you’re using) and the HP OfficeJet 6950 printer are connected to the same network. Similarly, check if the “scan to a computer” feature is enabled on your computer. If not, enable it.

For Windows

  • On your printer’s software screen, click on the Scan tab.
  • Select the Manage Scan to Computer option followed by Enable.

For Mac

  • On your Mac computer, open HP Utility.
  • Click on the Scan to Computer option under the Scan Settings section.
  • Select the Enable Scan to Computer option if it is not selected.

For Windows

  • Load the original document or image in the document feeder or on the scanner glass of your printer.
  • On the HP printer software screen, go to the Print, Scan & Fax section.
  • Click Scan > Scan a Document or Photo.
  • Choose the scan type and other settings under the Scan Shortcuts section.
  • Finally, click Scan.

For Mac

  • Open the HP Easy Scan software on your Mac computer.
  • Click Scan and configure the scan settings as per your preferences.

HP OFFICEJET 6950 SCAN MULTIPLE PAGES

You can scan multiple pages of the document and save it as a PDF using the HP Smart app.

  • Ensure that the document's first page (that you want to scan) is loaded properly on the scanner glass of your printer.
  • Open the HP Smart app.
  • Select the Scanner option and go to the scan preferences screen.
  • After configuring the scan settings, click Scan.
  • Now, your printer will scan the first page of the document.
  • Once it is done, a Preview window will appear on your computer screen.
  • Click Add to scan the second page of the document.
  • Similarly, scan all the pages of the document.
  • Finally, select the Basic PDF option as the file type and click Save.
