  • Gather your Wi-Fi network’s SSID and password if you have no idea about them.
  • Make sure that your wireless router is turned on and ready for setup.
  • Enable Wi-Fi on your printer if it is disabled.
  • Place your printer closer to the network device and the computer.
  • Download the full software of your printer if you haven’t downloaded it yet.

Enabling the Wi-Fi Capability 

Before you begin the Wi-Fi setup, check whether Wi-Fi is enabled on your HP printer. If you find solid blue light on your printer’s control panel, it means that Wi-Fi is enabled on your printer. Otherwise, enable it by following the instructions given below.

  • Tap on the Wi-Fi icon on your printer’s control panel.

Select Settings > Wireless > ON.

Now, your HP printer is ready for the Wi-Fi setup.

Step 1: Connecting the printer to a wireless network

  • On your printer control panel, tap on the Wi-Fi icon.
  • Select Settings > Wi-Fi Protected Setup or Wireless Setup Wizard.
  • If you have selected the Wireless Setup Wizard option, the screen displaying the list of available networks will open. Select your network’s SSID from the list and follow the on-screen instructions to establish the connection between your network device and the printer.
  • Similarly, if you have selected the Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) option, select the PUSH or PIN method and follow the rest of the steps displayed on your printer screen to complete the Wi-Fi setup.
  • After completing the connectivity process, check whether your printer is connected to your wireless network.  You can check it with the wireless test report.
  • To print a wireless test report, on your printer control panel, tap Settings followed by Print Reports > Wireless Test Report.

Step 2: Installing the printer software

  • Download the printer driver for your printer from HP’s official website.
