Whenever the HP OfficeJet printer goes offline on your Mac, follow the instructions in this post to resolve the offline issue. But before that, confirm that your printer is all set to print.

  • Ensure that the printer is not off or in sleep mode. If so, press the Power button on the printer to wake it or turn it on.
  • Check whether the paper is loaded into the tray correctly.
  • Make sure the original ink or toner cartridges are installed.

Removing and re-adding your printer:

  • Click the Apple icon on your Mac screen and select the System Preferences option --> Printer & Scanners --> Print and Scan or Print and Fax.
  • Choose the printer name you want to remove and click the sign at the bottom.
  • Select Delete Printer.
  • Click the + sign to find your printer in the list. Choose the printer from the list.
  • Click Use or Print Using, select AirPrint from the drop-down list and click Add.

Resetting the print system to resolve the offline issue on Mac:

  • Click the Apple icon --> System Preferences --> Printers & Scanners --> Print and Scan or Print and Fax.
  • Now, right-click on the printer name and click Reset printing system.
  • Click the Reset option.
  • Enter the administrator name and password, and then click OK for the reset.
  • After resetting, you can add your printer again.
